As one of the most critical components?in numerous transportation and logistics problems,?routing and scheduling of critical?resources?to provide service?over temporal and spatial dimensions has attracted a lot of attention. Such problems are known to be one of the most challenging types due to their inherent combinatorial nature. Furthermore, routing and scheduling decisions are difficult to make because (i) they must be considered jointly with other decisions such as facility location or inventory control, and (ii) the decisions would also be affected by additional factors, such as random?service?disruptions due to natural or man-made disasters, or? responses from self-interested users/customers. This presentation discusses a series of attempts at the above-mentioned problems in a variety of application contexts.?
Yanfeng Ouyang is George Krambles Endowed Professor, Paul Kent Endowed Faculty Scholar, Donald Willett Faculty Scholar, and Director of the Chinese-American Railway Transportation Joint Research Center at the Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He is also Chang Jiang Chair Professor by the Ministry of Education of PR China through affiliation with Harbin Inst of Tech. He currently serves as a Department/Area/Associate Editor of IIE Transactions, Networks and Spatial Economics, Transportation Science, Transportation Research Part C, and Transportmetrica B. His work has been recognized by a Merit Award for Technical Study from the American Planning Association, a Walter L. Huber Research Prize from the American Society of Civil Engineers, a High Impact Project Award from the Illinois Department of Transportation, a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the U.S. National Science Foundation, among others.
